What are aura points? Meaning, memes & how they work

Aura points are an informal internet scoring system used to joke about how much presence someone just gained or lost. There is no official scale: people award "+1,000 aura" for a moment of effortless cool and subtract thousands for an embarrassing one. The Aura 100 turns that idea into a real, vote-driven score.

The internet meaning first

The aura points meme borrows its language from games: you gain points, you lose points, and everybody in the comments agrees roughly how many. Positive aura is composure — doing something difficult as if it cost nothing. Negative aura is the opposite: visible effort, trying to be seen, or a small public failure right after a big claim. The numbers are always invented and always round, which is part of the joke.

The habit of scoring behaviour is what connects it to aura farming (single moments that earn points) and aura maxxing (deliberately building the whole persona). Aura points are the currency all three ideas share.

+750

Walking away from the noise

Everyone turns to watch a commotion. You keep walking in the same direction at the same speed.

+500

One-line answer under pressure

A hostile question met with five calm words and nothing else.

-2,000
